Fashion Culture with Burberry

Stunning Chic Fashion Culture with Burberry: Blouse by Burberry, Skirt by bebe, Purse by Gianni Bini, Chocolate brown heels by bebe, watch by Michael Kors, and Burgundy Sunglasses by Armani Exchange.

When we talk about today’s most important fashion industries in the world, our first thoughts may fall to Paris, Milan, London, or New York.
But what about the rest of the world? What about Africa, India, the Middle East….and I can go on and on. Each country, in every region, has its own and incredibly pure sense of fashion.

While many people may feel that our clothing is just an everyday necessity or a way of introducing ourselves to the world, for many others it represents their cultures and beliefs.
Fashion lives with us and exists in our world forever. Fashion changes as we as humans evolve and change as well.

Communities of people in countries around the world create their own fashion trends using all the elements Mother Nature has to offer.

They express thoughts, beliefs, religion and their own style of life through fashion.

Throughout all of time, designers have also expressed their own imaginations through cultural clothing.

The way how each creates art on a body with layers of culturally exquisite luxuries such as fabrics and jewelry…the way how they mix and match colors, makeup and different accessories… everything is executed with such fabulous perfection, not only as a way to express a cultural meaning, but also as a means of seduction or ways to captivate the eyes of an audience.

These “body paintings” tell the world and history so much about who we are.

That is why fashion is so much more than all brands put together.

Fashion is an instant connection to the world, and I even believe, that in a sense, God is also a designer.

Today, I chose to highlight a Burberry top.

Burberry, created by Thomas Burberry, is a British luxury brand that has been in business since1856 and is particularly famous for its signature trench coat and plaid patterns.

Today, when I think about different cultures, I can see the representation of British culture very well within Burberry; and I feel that the pattern of Burberry brings a pronounced touch of class and elegance to my outfit.

One reason why I love Burberry so much is because the Burberry Foundation was stablished in 2008 as a philanthropic organization dedicated to helping young people realize their dreams through the powers of their own creativity. In 2011, Burberry Porsum also highlighted its London Fashion week with African Fabrics and showed the world just how much Africa cultures have to offer today’s Fashion industry.

I choose to wear my Burberry blouse with a white skirt, brown or gold heels, and a brown purse. To me, this is classy and chic but still a very youthful and fun outfit :)

Stay fabulous!

The GJ Dress

The GJ dress

Let me share with you the history behind the GJ dress featured in today’s post:

Since I was a little girl, I was always fascinated with the idea of designing my own clothes.

I remember cutting sheets and cloths until my mother had to take them away from me.  You see, I always dreamt of designs in my mind that I just couldn’t find in any store.

So, when I decided to start my blog, I thought that maybe…just maybe…I could show little-by-little my own fashion designs, but of course, I am not a professional designer, I’m just someone with a huge imagination, right? :)

Then, one day while having tea after tennis, I was discussing the Stunning Chic blog with a new friend.  We shared many of the same childhood fashion fantasy stories.  She was telling me when she was a young girl, she always wanted to be in style and have beautiful clothes as well.  But she decided to go to college and become a professional Fashion Designer.  WOW! I could not believe it!  I told her how much I would love to make a dress, but I just did not know how to execute the idea.

So another day (while talking about fashion, of course) I showed her some pictures and explained how I would love to have a dress that looked like this.  Amazingly, from those ideas, and our discussions, she created this fabulous dress!

My wonderful friend’s name is Jaimi Peterson Runyan, and I feel like she and I make a perfect team together.  Both of us love fashion as a way to express to the world who we really are!

We decided that this dress needed to be light pink and black with gold buttons, the three colors represent my personality, and this blog, the best!

I’m so proud to share with all of you our very first dress.  The GJ dress!

Why “GJ“?  “G” for Gemma, “J” for Jaimi :)

Be creative on your own, and stay Fabulous!

Devotion to Black

Devotion to Black

01

My devotion to the color black started when I was very young, and I have always been very attracted to this color in so many of my fashion styles.

At one point in my life almost everything in my closest was black.

Why have I always been infatuated with this color, and why is black universally thought of as a flattering color?

I think its because in our minds, black makes us think we can hide any imperfection and make ourselves look slimmer. It works for every occasion, every hair style and every skin color. I feel like the color black accentuates all ages and sexes, both men and women love the color.

To me, the meaning of this color is glamour, and its fabulous! Black helps creates a magical seductive atmosphere around us that is the equivalent of confidence and power.

Why does the fashion world love black so much? Because it is so significant and prominent in our society. We can go anywhere in black, and always look in style.

Black is also an easy color to match pretty much with every other color, so it is always a good base to start with. Life is simplified yet pronounced with black!

With the color black, you can always look polished and smart. The color itself doesn’t come with its own price tag. Even if the outfit is inexpensive, it will never look cheap in black.

In my post today, I added some gold to this black outfit that appeals to my taste. I choose black with gold because I feel like it provide some glimmer in a fabulous way.

Sparkle in any occasion you desire, and get that amazingly look with black and gold.

Shine is on! …..and Stay fabulous!!!

From the glam to the farm, but always in style!

01

I’m always asking myself the rhetorical question, why do people think city styles and country styles have to be so different in the fashion world.

When we normally think about a farm, we think about flowers or plaid prints, denim and cowboy boots; and when we usually think about glamorous city-life, we think about blazers, high heels, polished and refined looks.

There are those stereotypes, but honestly they don’t necessary have to be so faraway from each other, I can show you how to use the same outfit for both locations.

Today I’ll show you a different outlook.  I joined two completely different styles simply using the same clothing, just by changing the accessories to quickly transform from a country/farm fashion style into a glamorous city fashion style.

To do this, I decided to wear beige shorts with a Navy blue top, a white blazer, brown heels, brown leather purse and aviator sunglasses for a city look…very glamorous!

Suede leather is a big part of a rustic country vibe.  So, for a country look, I simply removed the heels, took off the blazer, and added suede boots and a suede jacket, and I was ready for a country mood 😉

Embrace the Memorial weekend and forget about sleeping late or getting to the cocktail parties.  Go out shopping and catch those wonderful sales whether you’re looking for that glam look or that farm chic style.

If you are a city mouse but love to go to the country to connect with nature, just get inspired with how to look your best from the glam to the farm, and always be in style.

Accessorize to create your own country look or city style, and leave your own trademark!

Stay Fabulous!

Navigate in Style with Nautical Fashion

Nautical Style 1

Red, white and blue are not just the colors of the American flag, they are also the colors of Nautical Fashion Style – a very classy, breezy, summer trend to try.

And best part is, you can have so much fun with it!

Pulling off a Nautical style is so easy, and you don’t even need to have a yacht, or have to be going on a cruise.  Make a difference with this trend.

Enjoy the six months or so of Spring and Sumner to dress with this distinguished style!

Knowing the basics of a Nautical Style will give you that instant rich chic look, and here are a some ways you can get on board with this trend:

Start with a fitted blazer or sweater in navy blue, white or even blue and white stripes.

The white or navy blue stripes have big personality and they make you feel like a Rock Star.

Keep in mind, you can add other colors as well: yellow, watermelon and beige can also create an exquisite nautical style.

Tops and bottoms also play a big roll. For some extra style points, you can mix and match an orange top with a navy blue bottom to create an entirely new vibe.

The way you accessorize this look is key, and quality is very important.

For a truly Nautical look, choose accesories with gold.  Add some maritime details if you want, for example: a rope belt; a striped or white and blue handbag; and some wayfarer sunglasses.

For a more impressive naval appeal, pair your outfit with heels or flats to tailor the look to your own taste.

Channel your inner Sailor Chic with this trend.

Fashion in Starbucks

Fashion at Starbucks

Fashion at Starbucks

Starbucks has become one of the most popular social network sites.

The idea of experiencing a nice cup of coffee, socializing with some friends, simply chatting on FB and sometimes getting some work done on your computer….or even, maybe if your single and lucky enough, meet someone that could connect you to love.

I go there once in a while to socialize with friends and enjoy my taste for a good Earl Grey Tea. I can tell that many men and women love to stop there for a coffee on their way to, or in between, work.

Within just one hour, I can spot more than 5 or 6 uniquely different fashion types as I sip my tea.

It’s just amazing to me, how a coffee cafe can put so many different styles together: preppy, casual, gothic, business, sporty, and so many more.

I feel like I pay for a tea and I end up on one of the most exclusive fashion shows ever.

I look at the different people, and some styles give me great ideas that I can use myself. Other times I feel like saying: “lady, you have the body shape but what you’re wearing is a Fashion Disaster, so lets do a makeover on you.”

I wish I had a magic wand that I could use to spread these great fashion ideas around the world!

All what I’m saying here is: appreciate everything around you!

At the end of my visit to Starbucks, I go home happy because I take with me so much information about fashion. It is almost like putting all my ideas into a blender and extracting only the best ones.

The best advice comes from the observation of others – Street Fashion, as simple as going to Starbucks :)

Today I chose this outfit, as a Professional Chic look.

The skater skirt brings to this outfit a very classic look. It accentuates your waist and encourages you to show your delicate silhouette. These skirts come in different colors and patterns, so there is definitely one out there that will suit your personality and appropriate occasion.

The black chiffon blouse is the perfect combination for this skirt.

The black pattern leather shoes, with the bow on the side, is just so lady-like. “Feminine and sophisticated” is the message I want to say when I walk in these shoes.

Adding this beige purse with the gold chain ends it with a perfect finishing touch.

To me this is a WOW LOOK :)
Stay fabulous!

Girl On The Go!

Bringing back fashion for the girl on the go !!

The sound of silence feels incredible and makes me think how amazing it is to be a women. We are always on the go.
We are mothers, wives, best friends, professionals …OMG…everything, not to mention the housekeeping part LOL…

But truthfully, the question is: do we really pay attention on ourselves? It is so easy with our busy routines to get caught in our sweat pants and flip flops or plain sneakers, jeans and a T-shirt.

However, lets not forget our identity just because the day is not long enough. It doesn’t mean we have to quit being women. Just because we became mothers, and put some weight on (talking for my own experience), it doesn’t mean we should loose pride in ourselves.

Taking care of ourselves is so important in so many aspects. The way we project life, our relationships with our husbands, partners, and everybody else. Self confidence plays a big roles in our minds. Sometimes it is good to analyze ourselves and appreciate who we are.
Reaching out for a little help in the fashion department can sometimes be a good answer.

We often admire how other women look, and it is easy to just let ourselves go looking for the wrong excuse to be some new woman that deep inside we don’t really like. Don’t be satisfied with the woman you have become. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy.
Don’t put yourself on hold just because your schedule is too busy. The best gift you can give to yourself is self-confidence.
Get excited about yourself! Bring the chic back! Take a look in the past and think about how you were when you first dated your husband or partner. Remember those times? We spent so much time in the mirror; we wore heals; we did our makeup and hair; and were just shinning all over. And most importantly, we enjoyed the feeling. That, girl, is still in you. She never left, you just let her get a little lazy.

So shake it, shake it! Bring back the sex appeal and get that drop dead gorgeous diva back :)
So, have a cup of tea with me and enjoy the fashion tips:

  • Allow yourself to go shopping.
  • Pick just a few things that will make you feel pretty. No need to spend a fortune, just purchase something you can wear a different way.
  • You could team different colors together with the same purpose.
  • Get a new pair of flat stylish shoes ( easy to wear with everything ), and if you like to dress up a little more on the weekends, or go for a date with your hubby, maybe a nice new pair of heals;
  • 1 or 2 stylish jeans;
  • 1 or 2 delicate blouses (silk, linen or cotton are very IN);
  • A few pairs of shorts (black or maybe blue, you can do so much with this colors);
  • A few fresh and youthful tops (pastels are so classy);
  • A stunning blazer (my favorite thing);
  • Get just a few useful accessories ( if you are not too crazy about bracelets and too much bling bling like me );
  • Get a nice feminine belt;
  • A nice purse. I would choose a purse with a solid color that will match with every outfit you wear ( black, white, beige or brown ); and
  • A beautiful pair of sunglasses

You don’t have to buy everything in one day..do it little by little.
Do your hair, get a manicure and a pedicure.
Challenge yourself to a complete new look.
Don’t be afraid to do a drastic change in your life for the best.
Don’t look for anyone’s approval; only your own.
And bring the magic back!
In this outfit, I chose nice pink jeans, with a grey linen blouse and a black blazer. But if you don’t want the blazer, a black sweater around your shoulders can also look very chic, for a relaxing day :)
With some sliver high heals, a silver belt and a silver purse….To me, the metallic silver accessories give the outfit a glamorous effect for a nice day on the go.
Cheers to the new you!
Stay fabulous!

Timeless Wardrobe

Today I woke up feeling amazing. It is one of those days, when my mind flies away in so many different directions.

Today it is all about dreams. I know I am a big dreamer, but dreams are free, and we don’t have to pay taxes for that, right? :)

So, from fashion fairyland, I recharged my Batteries and got inspired!

Now I’m flying to my closet using my huge imagination. I usually find something I can alter, all I need is a little skirt, dress or pants. Anything I can play with and re-make to look fabulous and chic makes me feel like I just bought a new outfit.

The biggest satisfaction for me, is to create a new design with clothes that I wore many times before but just doesn’t look very attractive to my eyes anymore, or, …..is just out of style :)

I have rules in my closet.

Rule #1: Keep everything visible so you know exactly what you have.

Rule #2: Separate the clothes by season.

Rule #3: Clean up your closet every 3 months, you’ll be amazed how many things you’ll find in there.

Make your closet like your very own candy store. Work with everything you have, organize it by colors as well.

Be a smart shopper! Get needed additions when the great deals are out, and don’t buy just for the sake of buying, or get hooked on the junk addiction. Quality works better than quantity!

All I’m saying here is: don’t pay a fortune for everything you buy. I say, get your favorite brands at a great deal.

I just want to help all my fabulous readers to get inspired with your own wardrobe.

Sometimes we feel a little depressed for different reasons, especially at THAT time of the month. We might feel fat, bloated…. OMG, all those negative feelings! I call this HFD – “hormonal fashion disorder.” First thing we might want to do to get rid of this feeling is buy something just for the sake of buying. We might feel like: if we get something new from the store, it will make us happy. Almost like hunting for happiness.

But honestly, it doesn’t really work!

So when you get in one of those moods, go shopping in your own closet.

Recreate and outfit and make a new look that is remarkable.

Lets face it, as women we love beautiful clothes, so why not play dress up as therapy? And it’s also a fine way to relieve stress.

In case you doubt your abilities to be a great designer, and you don’t want to ruin that skirt or pants that you’re not too crazy about, don’t worry, in my fashion fairyland there is a solution for everything.

Get inspired by your accessories. Try a nice belt, or change the buttons. Maybe add some jewelry. There are so many ways to be creative.

In the end, you will have the most marvelous, fearless, unexpected look.

I will show you today how to reinvent an outfit:

I had this Bebe suit for many years. I love the color, I love that it is linen and I love the tailor jacket. But the style of the pants was off. So I decided to cut it and make a fabulous short-pants suit, and it was ready to go.

I can honestly say, I feel totally happy with the results, and what I originally paid for that suit… even after all these years, it’s so worth it :)

I decided to wear a black top with this suit, to give some contrast.

I chose this black purse because I love the style of the gold chain, it makes the outfit much more elegant.

The white watch is perfect for Summer, it brings a youthful look to the suit. And the beige high heals….they’re the perfect combination.

Suggestions: I highly recommend not saving everything, but definitely those cloths you love, or once loved the way you looked in them. Also consider keeping your good quality items, for example, those made of fabrics like linen or silk.

Our imaginations have no limit, we just need to make it work :)

Stay Fabulous!

The Little Black Dress

The most elegant, but simple and sophisticated, Little Black Dress.

Behind this magic dress is an incredibly classy lady.  Not exactly created by Coco Chanel, but she definitely was the one who gave the power to this dress.

Coco Chanel, the woman with more style than any woman in the world.  The woman who started with nothing and ended up building an empire.  Thanks to her, every woman in this world can feel sexy, classy and like a truly beautiful lady.  Coco Chanel was the fashion icon of all times, and her Little Black Dress is the only one that all women with different tastes agree to wear as a universal uniform around the world.

It is a feminine piece of cloth every women should have in their closet.  It is the one dress that you can wear anytime of the year and on any occasion to feel confident and know that you are safe; because the LBD is not only a sign of class and style, it is the iconic symbol of fashion.  It is a magic dress that will make any moment unforgettable!

Most fashion trends don’t stay forever, but this is one that will live forever in the fashion world.  It is the signature of style, it is that essential piece of clothing that will take you anywhere, and make you feel amazing!

You can create so many different styles with this dress, because it is so versatile and easy to play with.

Many ways to wear your LBD :
For a special occasion, business meeting, dinner party, girl’s night out, chic cocktail party, or even, if you add a white blouse, it is perfect for a job interview!

There are so many opportunities to take advantage of with this wonderful dress.  I Love to accessorize this dress with a splash of gold – lets say a gold watch or a gold clutch purse.  I feel gold gives to this dress such a rich look.  Also, for more formal engagements, pearls are the perfect way to go.  Let’s embrace our feminity with the LBD!

The great news about this dress, is that you can mix and match it with any color depending on the event.

I chose the Little Black Dress today because I truly fell in love with it’s style.

To me, the white collar with this outfit brings out a delicate, youthful, vintage look.  And of course, with this style, because of the collar, you don’t need big accessories. Keep it simple and classy.

I end this tribute to the epic Little Black Dress saying, as Coco Chanel did,
“Look for the woman in the dress. If there is no woman, there is no dress.”

Stay fabulous !

A Touch of Style

Hello gorgeous ladies.

Today my forte is: “Low bugets with high expectations!”

I’m the girl who knows all too well my Gucci from my Burberry as well as TJM from H&M. I guess what I’m trying to say here is that style + class doesn’t mean $$$$$$.
The point is, to be passionate about knowIng your own style, and enjoy the ride.

I highly recommend exploring every store, from high end boutique regulars stores to low budgets stores. Each are full of their own surprises.  For me, it is hard to focus on just one designer or brand. Why should I eat just one type of chocolate when there are many other flavors out there ?  Get in the fashion fever mood and try different options.

Sometime as women, we feel like: “Well, if my friend looks so stylish with those clothes…or my coworker with that sexy intellectual outfit….or what about the sassy girl from next door…must line up each of those different looks.”
But honestly girls, is not about she or them!  Instead of worrying about everyone else’s look, let’s try to understand our own style.  Be independent in your choices!
Develop a good relationship between your taste and your wallet, enhancing productive projects for your closest, but making sure your account doesn’t drain.

I noticed that many times we get so stuck in all the fashion magazines.  Every time I go to the grocery store and am waiting in line to pay, I grab a magazine and look at what all the famous people are wearing, with all the extravaganza.
For the celebrities who look so perfect on the Red Carpet, or on any occasion when the paparazzi capture their photograph, its totally surreal the difference between them and us. Their image is their job. Behind each of them are many fashion and style advisers, making sure each and every detail is going to look impeccable, but there is so much excitement in fashion for all of us. We create moods and show our own emotions according how we feel in each particular moment. There is so much HONESTY in what we wear everyday.

The point is: There is no excuse to not look fabulous and feel pretty about ourselves, there is a budget for every smart woman.
Look inside yourself and choose your preferences wisely.
Is a win win situation.

Stay Fabulous!!!

Stay Fabulous !!!!
